Do not approve a finish on a substitute stock. Changing paper mill, shade, coating, laminate or surface texture can change transfer, relief and adhesion. Freeze the complete face-stock stack and require reapproval after a material change.

6. Build the operation order before artwork release

The finish cannot be planned separately from printing, lamination, die cutting, creasing and bag conversion. One project may foil a printed and laminated sheet, then emboss in register. Another may foil before lamination to protect the decoration, accepting that the film changes reflectivity. Spot UV usually needs a compatible surface and a clean cure before stacking or conversion. Ask the converter for a one-page routing map.
