Define the material, not just the effect
Ask whether the visual effect comes from embossing, a film, coating, lamination or another construction, and identify the base material. Record total thickness and, where relevant, the individual layers or coating basis.
The trade term “laser” does not prove a laser manufacturing process, polymer identity, recycled content or regulatory compliance. Tie every material statement to the current order specification and evidence.
Approve color under controlled lighting
Holographic surfaces change with angle, light source, background and camera exposure. Approve physical samples under the lighting used for retail or photography and record the sample orientation.
Define base tint, transparency or haze, pattern scale and acceptable color shift. A single front-view image cannot represent the full appearance.
Set surface defect limits
Agree how to judge scratches, scuffs, pressure marks, ripples, bubbles, coating gaps, blocking, fingerprints and dust. State viewing distance, light and whether the bag is empty or filled.
Protective film can reduce handling marks but may create its own edges, residue or removal instructions. Include it in the approved pack-out when used.
Control thickness and dimensional behavior
Specify the measuring method, locations and tolerance for flexible material. Thickness affects stiffness, folding, seam bulk, welding conditions, shape and cost but does not alone prove durability.
Evaluate the finished dimensions and opening after assembly. Heat, tension and folding can change flexible panels and holographic alignment.
Choose seams and edge finishing
Document whether panels are sewn, welded, bound or combined with fabric components. Define seam/edge width, corner shape, reinforcement and acceptable whitening, distortion or heat marks.
Inspect the finished join under representative load and handling. “Water-resistant material” does not make sewn openings, zipper paths or the complete bag waterproof.
Engineer handles, hardware and closures
Show handle material, dimensions, placement, attachment and reinforcement. Check whether holes, needle lines, rivets or heat affect the surrounding film or laminate.
Operate zippers, snaps or other closures with the bag filled. Hardware edges should not scratch the holographic surface during packing or use.
Approve decoration on the actual surface
Test ink, transfer, foil, labels, patches or other methods for coverage, adhesion, color, edge quality and interaction with the reflective background. Approve artwork size, position and tolerance.
Heat or solvent exposure can alter the surface. A decoration trial on clear PVC or another supplier's film does not replace approval on the proposed production material.
Define odor, contact and chemical requirements
State odor acceptance and the conditioning period before evaluation. If restricted substances, skin contact, cosmetics, children's use or destination requirements matter, identify the applicable scope and evidence with qualified parties.
Do not describe the bag as non-toxic, food-safe or environmentally friendly based only on the material name or appearance.
Approve packing for reflective surfaces
Review folding, interleaving, protective film, unit pack, carton pressure and temperature exposure. Reflective surfaces can show creases and rub marks that are less visible on opaque fabric.
Run a packed-sample check and inspect after a defined storage or transport simulation where presentation is important. Recheck the result when material or carton arrangement changes.
